HINGLISH TRANSLATION:

Body me khujli, dry aankhe, dry skin, Badan aur muscle mein dard: Yeh sabhi perimenopause ke lakshan lagte hain. Lekin iska koi ek jaadooi solution nahi hota. Perimenopause aur menopause ko sabse acchi tarah manage karne ke liye lifestyle changes, supplements, aur hormone therapy ka upyog karna padta hai, agar aapko hormones use karne ka koi contraindication nahi hai.

Lekin agar kisi ne mujhpar bandook taan kar pucha ki main smooth perimenopause ke liye top 5 cheezein kya karungi, toh woh yeh hoti, bina kisi khaas order ke:

1. Acchi quality ki neend lena

2. Movement aur exercise, khaaskar weight lifting par dhyaan dena

Am I too Young for Perimenopause? What is the Right Age to ask?

Too young for Perimenopause?

The answer is probably NO!

As mentioned in my previous reel, there is no reliable test for perimenopause. Tests like FSH, AMH and Antral follicle count (AFC) are great for testing ovarian reserve in women who are trying to conceive but currently perimenopause is a diagnosis of exclusion - which means other common conditions need to be excluded to arrive at its diagnosis.

Besides, here is some plain simple math -

  • The average age of menopause globally is 51 - 52 years.

  • This average is 46 in Indian women.

Do we need a test to Diagnose Perimenopause?

Recently, a 48-year-old perimenopausal woman was advised to do an AMH or antimullerian hormone test to diagnose perimenopause. She had hot flashes and severe muscle and joint aches that limited her from going for a walk - basically, she had symptoms of perimenopause. So I would like to use this opportunity to point out that there is NO test for the diagnosis of perimenopause. Tests like FSH or follicle stimulating hormone and AMH are used as predictors of ovarian reserve or fertility for women who are trying to conceive but they don't really work for diagnosing perimenopause and predicting menopause, especially for women over the age of 40 years.

Your age, menstrual history, and symptoms are enough to diagnose perimenopause. Some of these symptoms include a change in your menstrual cycle length, hot flashes, mood disturbances, sleep problems, vaginal dryness, reduction in libido, or desire to have sex...the list goes…
